Jackson Project: Fisheries Program

Sultan River Habitat Enhancement Project

Female Steelhead

This program:

  • monitors populations of resident fish in Spada Reservoir, as well as anadromous fish in the Sultan River,
  • controls river flows and water temperatures to provide suitable habitat conditions for both resident and anadromous fish including four species of salmon and steelhead trout,
  • monitors habitat conditions and documents fish distribution and use, and
  • enhances and restores habitat through flow releases and on-the-ground projects.

*** Culmback Dam Road will be CLOSED to ALL PUBLIC ACCESS at Olney Pass from 9/1/2017- 3/31/2018, in conjunction with  construction activities at the dam. 

Recreation sites on the South Shore Road will remain open for day-use activities.

Fireworks are not allowed on PUD property, and fires are permitted only in fire boxes provided at the recreation sites.

Parking at Olney Pass requires a Discover Pass, available from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

The outer gate at 116th street will be closed after business hours due to vandalism.


PUD property and Recreation Sites are day-use only.
