Notice of potential surplus electric energy for sale
Snohomish County PUD (“PUD”) may, from time to time, have surplus electric energy to sell. Available quantities and prices of surplus energy will vary. The PUD will make such surplus electric energy available under terms consistent with the Bonneville Power Administration’s Policy on Determining Net Requirements of Pacific Northwest Utility Customers under Sections 5(b)(1) and 9(c) of the Northwest Power Act.
Available electric energy, if any, will generally be offered at the prevailing market price, determined at the time of the request, to qualified Pacific Northwest entities. If surplus energy is available, and terms and conditions are mutually agreed upon, the PUD will meet requests received by 1:00 pm Pacific Prevailing Time. After 1:15 pm, requests will be met at the PUD’s discretion. As provided in the policy, if no qualified regional entity accepts an offer made in this manner, then any surplus electric energy may then be made available for sale to out-of-region customers. Requests must be made in writing and submitted via email to:
- Rhyan Kyle (rakyle@snopud.com); or
- Fax 425-783‑1630
Any surplus energy will be made available by the PUD at the Bonneville Power Administration Federal System or Northwest Hub. Transmission and ancillary services are not included, but may be available. Offers may be cancelled without notice.
Please contact the Power Scheduling Office at 425-783-1605 during business hours, for information on electric energy availability and pricing.
